Is Sanskrit Hard to Learn?

Honest answer: Sanskrit is demanding but unusually systematic. It is a language built by grammarians, and it rewards exactly the kind of steady, structured study a good course provides. People finish alphabet courses in weeks and read their first real verses within the first year of grammar.

Note on language. Classes are conducted in Russian — and for Russian speakers that is a real head start: the case system, verbal aspect habits and free word order all feel familiar rather than exotic.
