Mārcis Gasūns is a Sanskrit lecturer at the Society of Sanskrit Zealots, established in 2005. Teached in Novosibirsk and Krasnodar since 2007 and 2013. He is working in Sanskrit typography since 2005, making Devanagari font replicas. Adding Sanskrit lexicography in 2007, he curates crowdsourcing and AI at the Cologne Digital Sanskrit Dictionaries (Cologne University).
His Ph.D. «The Scope and Structure of Old Indian Roots: the History of Research» (Moscow) at the Institute of Linguistics (Russian Academy of Sciences) in 2014 was an updated dhātupāṭha concordance.
He has (re)printed 13 Sanskrit grammars, dictionaries, readers in Russian in his Bibliotheca Sanscritica since 2011 and a bilingual critical edition of Bhartṛihari in the Opera Minora subseries. He is editing four volumes of early Upanisads, Amaru, and Viṣṇu sahasranāma lately. Nurturing a dream of a finalised Russian translation of Mahabhārata and Ramāyana. For that purpose, he has gathered a group of scholars to work on Sundarakāṇḍa since 2020.
